Garden Install

Backyard Makeover by Brio Landscaping Brio Landscaping has successfully completed another we entitled, "Garden Install," for a happy customer in Elk Grove! This is a wonderful example of our philosophy and commitment to excellent quality of people, product, and service that represents all aspects of nature, as well, as they account for usability of a space. The Garden Install was a complete makeover of a space the customer had not been utilizing for an extended period of time and we began with a site assessment to understand the unique challenges - in this case multiple elevation levels; some with very little sunlight. The garden design included tiered style garden beds for cohesion, and we incorporated locally sourced stone for the retaining walls - for typical durability and rustic charm. As far as plant selection, we look to include a large variety of plants known to thrive in the region’s climate, like: colorful perennials, fragrant herbs, and annuals. Our plant experts built a plant palette/shade that had year-round interest while mixing textures and colors together at the same time. In addition, we built a pathway out of reclaimed wood with the customer’s preference for a sitting area consisting of weather resistant furniture for an enjoyable outdoor experience. What we incorporated for sustainability further remained at the forefront of consideration. We utilized a drip irrigation system to use lower water for all of the plants while keeping up with watering processes. Organic mulch was laid down to mitigate and management weeds and to retain moisture for healthy garden soils. There were challenges - most notable was the quality of existing soil that was being exhausted before planting the new plants. Improving the soil required significant soil amendment, but our work increased the quality of soil for the plants and the long-term garden success to grow in. In the end the transformation was GREAT! We took an under-utilized space to a nice oasis that the customer and family can enjoy as a retreat from the world. The results turned out as expected, exceeded expectations, and added incredible value to the functional and visual aspects to their home.
