Project 3256 Revamp

The 3256 Renovation project in Scottsdale, AZ, is a testament to the transformative power of adaptive reuse in residential architecture. Originally recognized with the 2015 AIA Arizona Award for Interior Architecture, this modern interior renovation successfully revitalized a previously uninspiring home into a harmonious living space that effectively connects its inhabitants with the surrounding environment. The challenge lay in reimagining a series of conflicting materials and spatial relationships that had long compromised the home's functionality and aesthetic appeal. Our design approach focused on fostering improved connections between interior spaces while enhancing the visual and physical relationships to the outdoor areas. By introducing a refined palette of materials, we created a cohesive and inviting atmosphere that promotes both comfort and elegant living. The master bathroom, a focal point of the renovation, showcases this vision beautifully. The combination of plain sliced black walnut and Calacatta Oro stone clads the master vanity, exuding a sense of sophistication. Meanwhile, the use of basalt stone, in various configurations, enriches the floor of the space and the walk-in shower, adding depth and texture. Craftsmanship played a vital role in achieving the desired outcome. Custom stainless steel supports were ingeniously designed to allow mirrors to appear as if they float within the space, providing a modern touch while subtly separating the master shower from the bathroom. This attention to detail not only enhances the design but also elevates the functionality of the space, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation.
