About This Project

In a transformative project located in Old Hickory, TN, a charming home received a significant exterior makeover that elevated its curb appeal and functionality. The couple sought a fresh look that would harmonize with their impressive outdoor space, including a spacious deck and extensive windows. To achieve this vision, we employed a range of our favorite exterior design techniques, notably the installation of cedar shake siding and custom stone work, resulting in a stunning, cohesive appearance. The project commenced with the removal of the existing fascia, soffit, and window metals, along with gutters and downspouts that were in need of replacement. This allowed us to install new vinyl soffit and fascia metal, complemented by 6-inch seamless gutters, downspouts, and a robust gutter protection system. To enhance the overall aesthetic, we wrapped all windows and doors, ensuring a polished finish that seamlessly integrated into the new design. A key feature of the redesign was the preparation of the front gable area, where we incorporated StoneCraft Industries’ Ledgestone in the “Bucktown” color, creating a striking focal point for the home. This stonework was complemented with appropriate trim for the corners and doors, adding dimension and texture to the façade. Additionally, we painted the side area where the gas meter and wires were located, ensuring that all elements of the home appeared thoughtfully considered and well-maintained. To further enrich the exterior, we added cedar headers above the front stone area windows and crafted a gable vent from Miratec trim, which was painted to match the new scheme. The cedar shakes were meticulously sealed to protect against the elements, while a beam was wrapped in cedar, tying together the natural materials used throughout the project. The culmination of these efforts resulted in an eye-catching exterior that not only amplified the home's charm but also provided lasting durability and style.
