The Urban Oasis project transforms a historical Victorian home in Newton, MA, into a remarkable family-friendly space that elegantly balances functionality with aesthetic appeal. The original layout lacked a usable family room adjacent to the kitchen, as well as a dedicated mudroom for the children, making day-to-day life challenging in such a charming yet compact urban property. To address this, the rarely utilized deck was reimagined into a breathtaking sunroom addition that seamlessly integrates into the home’s classic architecture. This sunroom boasts a custom-designed entrance that leads into a thoughtfully planned mudroom. This space is equipped with benches, cubbies, shelves, and hooks, meticulously designed to provide organization and ease for the entire family. The materials used reflect the home’s Victorian heritage while incorporating modern functionality. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail, from the rich wood finishes to the exquisite trim work, creating a perfect blend of tradition and contemporary convenience. A striking wet bar runs along the back wall of the sunroom, enhancing the space for entertaining guests and family alike.
