The Dunn Loring Transitional Kitchen, a proud recipient of the Crysalis Award in 2015, exemplifies a harmonious blend of modern aesthetics and classic elegance. The journey began in 2012 when the clients approached us with a wealth of inspiration—photos and ideas that vividly outlined their vision for a dream kitchen. This collaborative approach set the stage for a project that would not only enhance functionality but also create a visually stunning space. One of the initial challenges was the presence of non-load-bearing columns that disrupted the flow of the kitchen. Recognizing the potential for an open-concept design, we proposed their removal, which immediately transformed the area into a more cohesive and inviting environment. The original kitchen featured a smaller, angled island that limited the space's usability. Our design sought to expand this island, providing ample room for cooking, dining, and entertaining while maintaining a clean and modern aesthetic. Throughout the project, we prioritized high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The selection of cabinetry, countertops, and fixtures was carefully curated to reflect the transitional style, blending traditional warmth with contemporary sophistication. Soft-close drawers, sleek hardware, and a stunning backsplash were thoughtfully incorporated, enhancing both functionality and visual appeal. The color palette, featuring soft whites and rich wood tones, contributes to the kitchen's inviting atmosphere.
