The Venetian Fireplace project in Katonah, NY, showcases a stunning transformation that revitalized an outdated feature in the client's living room. Originally, the space featured a red brick fireplace that was positioned only about two inches from the wall, detracting from the overall aesthetic of the room. Our team embarked on a mission to enhance the fireplace's functionality and visual appeal, ensuring it became a focal point rather than an eyesore. To achieve this, we first built out the width of the fireplace using high-quality cement board, effectively allowing us to create a more substantial and visually balanced structure. This modification not only improved the fireplace's presence but also provided a solid foundation for the decorative finishes that would follow. The application of Venetian plaster involved several meticulous coats, expertly applied to create a smooth, luxurious texture that captures light beautifully, adding depth to the fireplace's design. A durable sealant was then applied to ensure the longevity of the finish, protecting it from wear and maintaining its elegant appearance. Complementing the new fireplace design, the client's carpenter crafted a chunky mantle that added character and warmth to the space. This wooden element provided a perfect contrast to the sleek Venetian plaster, highlighting the craftsmanship involved in the overall renovation.
