Type: Leighton Ave Urban Farm The Leighton Ave Urban Farm re-imagines outdoor living at an Urban home in downtown Los Angeles, a collaboration with landscaper Alma Backyard Farms. Here is an urban farm that is both sustainable and beautiful a setting where living space and productive space is combined, enabling the perfect place to relax and also grow food. Leading up to the we created a number of raised garden beds out of old cedar timbers which are, by nature, long lasting and pest resistant. The beds were planned so as to maximize sun exposure, and allow an efficient irrigation system to be set up that especially using drip irrigation, with minimum water waste while also keeping the plants healthy. The farm is an edible oasis for health with its plethora of organic vegetables and herbs. The most significant challenge we overcame for this site was its small urban site that did not allow for traditional landscaping. We are through vertical gardening solutions, trellises sustainable bamboo are uses that serves dual purpose, makes space utilization yet looks aesthetically appealing. As an extra, we have included permeable paving stones for walkwaysthat will enable rain water percolate and replenish the local aquifer. We created an urban farm that works not just for our client from a functional perspective but takes the neighborhood to a whole different level of beauty. The greenery showcases several shades of green, while the insured colourful planted crops and smart arrangements create a comfortable space to facilitate community relationship building. Our client was very happy with the and how successfully they connected nature with their urban life.
