The Zima Residence, a charming Cape Cod home located in the picturesque Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, underwent a comprehensive exterior transformation aimed at rejuvenating its curb appeal while ensuring long-lasting protection. The homeowners, the Zimas, sought to refresh the exterior colors of their beloved residence, and Holland Painting was entrusted with this important task in 2015. To begin the project, the team prioritized the preparation of the home’s surfaces, recognizing that proper preparation is crucial for achieving optimal results. They commenced with a thorough pressure washing to eliminate any dust and grime that could hinder paint adhesion. Given the home’s proximity to the lake, they took additional measures to treat for mildew and insect infestations, ensuring that the surfaces were pristine and ready for painting. The meticulous approach continued with the careful removal of all loose and peeling paint, which was essential for the integrity of the new finish. Any exposed raw wood was primed with a high-quality oil-based primer, providing a solid foundation for the subsequent layers. The team also addressed potential water intrusion by caulking all windows and filling any gaps larger than 1/4 inch, further enhancing the home's durability against the elements. For the final application, two coats of premium exterior Acrylic Latex Paint were applied to all paintable surfaces, chosen for its superior durability and color retention. The result was a stunning transformation that not only revitalized the Zima’s home but also provided them with peace of mind regarding its protection against the harsh Wisconsin weather. The Zima Residence now stands as a testament to quality craftsmanship, with its updated palette and expertly executed finishes enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and structural longevity.
