About This Project

The MEH/Kennerson project represents a culmination of innovative design and superior craftsmanship, particularly evident in the bathroom’s shower system. For this project, we chose to employ Hydroban, a state-of-the-art waterproofing membrane manufactured by Laticrete. This greenish membrane, visible over the cement board and directly beneath the tile, is a hallmark of our commitment to quality and longevity. Unlike conventional showers, which typically rely on waterproofing solely beneath the pan and up to about 12 inches on the walls, our approach integrates surface-applied waterproofing that extends at least to the showerhead and often all the way to the ceiling. This method significantly enhances durability, ensuring that the only elements exposed to moisture are the tile and grout. By isolating the mortar base with the seamless Hydroban membrane, we eliminate the risk of water accumulation that can lead to mold and structural issues over time. The seamless nature of this application provides a complete, one-piece waterproof envelope, setting a new standard for shower installations. The design choices made in this project reflect a modern aesthetic while prioritizing functionality. The bathroom showcases a clean and contemporary look, enhanced by carefully selected tiles that complement the Hydroban system. Our attention to detail in the installation process is evident; every tile is meticulously placed to create a uniform appearance, while the craftsmanship ensures that all elements work harmoniously together.
