The Rustic Back Yard project in Minneapolis, MN, presents a harmonious blend of nature and craftsmanship, completed in 2016 with a budget ranging from $2501 to $5000. The client envisioned a space that would seamlessly integrate with the existing rustic limestone walls, which are a defining feature of the property. Our design approach focused on enhancing the natural beauty of the landscape while providing functional elements that invite enjoyment and relaxation. At the heart of this project was the construction of a stunning boulder wall, meticulously designed to echo the textures and colors of the limestone. This choice of material not only complements the existing structures but also adds a sense of permanence and rugged charm to the backyard. Each boulder was carefully selected and placed to create a visually appealing arrangement that feels organic, as if it has always been a part of the landscape. In addition to the boulder wall, we constructed a set of small stairs using the same limestone as the existing walls. This design choice was intentional, ensuring a cohesive look throughout the space. The stairs serve a dual purpose, providing both aesthetic appeal and practical access to different levels of the backyard. The combination of the boulder wall and limestone steps creates a picturesque focal point that enhances the overall landscape design.
