About This Project

The Pole Residence project represents a remarkable transformation of a home nestled in the picturesque setting of Larkspur, California. Our clients, while fond of their location and the existing layout, found their former residence lacking in aesthetic appeal and light. The complete remodel sought to address these concerns by creating a contemporary sanctuary that marries openness with warmth. The design philosophy centered around enhancing the quality of the living spaces rather than merely increasing square footage, allowing for the selection of higher-grade materials while staying mindful of budget constraints. The interior layout underwent a significant reconfiguration, with the three bedrooms remaining in their original locations. The project’s focal point was the removal of the demising walls that separated the family room, kitchen, living, and dining areas. This strategic decision led to the creation of a cascading great room that not only maximizes the flow of natural light but also frames breathtaking views of the surrounding hills, previously obscured by an awkward masonry fireplace. The open design fosters a sense of connection and spaciousness, making it ideal for both relaxation and entertaining.
