About This Project

The Dorchester Road Kitchen project showcases a stunning transformation that emphasizes light, space, and modern functionality. Nestled in the heart of a home in Erie, PA, this mid-sized kitchen benefits significantly from a large skylight that floods the space with natural light. To enhance this airy atmosphere, the original white cabinetry was replaced with contemporary shaker-style cabinets, meticulously selected for their clean lines and timeless appeal. The addition of undercabinet lighting not only illuminates the workspace but also adds a soft glow that accentuates the kitchen's overall aesthetic. In reimagining the layout, we eliminated a small pantry closet to create room for more cabinetry and expansive countertop space. This decision not only optimized the kitchen's functionality but also improved the flow of the design. With the removal of soffits, cabinets now extend all the way to the ceiling, maximizing storage potential while providing a streamlined look. The clever incorporation of large drawers, pullout spice drawers, and rollout trays ensures that organization is simple and efficient, catering to the needs of modern home cooks. The choice of materials reflects a harmonious blend of style and durability. The quartz countertops, paired with a sophisticated gray backsplash made from glass tile, create a striking contrast against the white cabinetry, while the vinyl flooring offers a practical yet stylish base that withstands the rigors of everyday use. The overall result is a transitional kitchen that is both visually appealing and highly functional, striking a perfect balance between modern conveniences and classic design elements.
