Nestled in the vibrant community of Encinitas and the surrounding area, our team took on the challenge of breathing life back into a front yard that had lost its beauty but still had potential to be a great space to tread into and flow toward the living room and entryway of the house while blending seamlessly with the homeowner's personal style; a challenge that we took on and delighted in. Featuring both native California plantings along with drought-resistance elements, this fit perfectly into the sustainable, low-maintenance atmosphere. We used the finest materials, high-quality natural stone pavers to create a beautiful path that leads to a seating area surrounded by handcrafted wooden benches. To create beauty as well as aid local pollinators, the design included a variety of flowering plants like lavender, succulents, and ornamental grasses. A major obstacle we had to overcome was the slope of the yard. We constructed sloped planting beds to add depth, while also allowing for better soil drainage and erosion management using the expertise of our team. This process yielded visually striking aesthetic landscapes, providing a volume/boundary patch (including earthworks, flowering and foliage plants) which functioned to serve as both aesthetic and functional elements to provide environmental mitigation. The end result was a bold and welcoming front yard that the homeowner was proud of so much, neighbors started passing by to take in the transformation. This showcased the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail that OSM strives to achieve every day, and we are proud to say it not only fulfilled but surpassed the expectations of the client.
