Summary: Free Standing Walls by ROCKWOOD RETAINING WALLS/CORP In Rochester, ROCKWOOD RETAINING WALLS/CORP embarked on a unique landscaping entitled 'Free Standing Walls.' The objective was to enhance a residential outdoor area in both utility and aesthetic function to fit in with the natural environment of the area without losing itself within it. The involved an attractive, well-made free-standing wall that provided privacy as well as an interesting visual aspect to the landscape. Using durable, natural stone, the walls were built to withstand the elements and to fit in with the property landscape. The choice of granite that was quarried locally raised the quality level since it was a sustainable product that added to the rustic aesthetic charm of the walls while framing the space of the property. In consideration of the , one challenge was the uneven nature of the client's yard. Fortunately, our professional team was able to mitigate this situation by employing some engineering creativity in solving the problem. This creativity enabled us to ensure that every wall would be level and properly secured while recognizing that every wall became another visual mark placed in the garden. To accompany the walls and the overall transformation we undertook of the property, we also incorporated the surrounding landscaping. The client specified we would procure elaborately landscaping their gardens with native plants and decorative gravel along with the walls. Altogether it would provide a unique aspect and further highlight the natural space in Rochester that could be enjoyed by the client and others when they entertained guests or relaxed in their yard. The completed product was impressive, satisfying the vision of the client and the solution we provided. The walls gave the necessary privacy screening required while beautifying the garden that also ultimately created a relaxing oasis in the midst of the city.
