The Shire project stands as a remarkable testament to refined craftsmanship and thoughtful design, seamlessly merging historic charm with modern functionality. This expansive undertaking, initiated in 2015 in Lewisburg, PA, encompassed a comprehensive renovation of an 1840s brick home that had undergone significant ‘Victorianization’ in the 1880s. The first phase of the project focused on restoring the integrity of the original structure while enhancing its livability. Built-in cabinetry was expertly crafted to establish a formal Library, providing a serene space for reading and reflection. Each Bathroom underwent complete renovations, marrying contemporary amenities with classic aesthetics. Notably, a luxurious Master Suite was introduced on the second floor, complete with His and Her Bathrooms, alongside two distinct Guest Suites, ensuring ample accommodation for visitors. The second phase brought an ambitious kitchen renovation to life, where a thoughtful addition allowed for the creation of a Pantry, Laundry Room, and Great Room, alongside two dedicated Offices. This transformation involved skillfully inserting the Kitchen into the existing brick framework, with architectural openings that foster a seamless flow into the new Great Room. The design choices reflect a commitment to both functionality and style, utilizing high-quality materials that honor the home’s heritage while offering modern conveniences. Exterior enhancements have further elevated The Shire’s appeal, featuring the establishment of a formal French Garden framed by meticulously constructed brick walls and new brick entrance steps. The comprehensive scope of this project, with a total investment ranging from $1.5 to $2 million, has culminated in a stunning residence that beautifully balances historical elegance with contemporary living, making it a true standout in the community.
