Peckham Architecture Headquarters stands as a pioneering model of sustainable design and innovation in Columbia, Missouri. This LEED Platinum certified building is notable for being the state's first Passive House Institute US (PHIUS) Certified structure, exemplifying a commitment to environmental responsibility and energy efficiency. The headquarters encompasses a thoughtfully designed 1,200-square-foot office space, complemented by 2,500 square feet of living quarters for Nick and Diane Peckham, along with an adjoining garage and an inviting unheated 3-season porch. The building’s architecture reflects a contemporary aesthetic while prioritizing functionality and sustainability. A key feature of this structure is its 10kW grid-tied photovoltaic system, which enables the headquarters to operate as a net-positive building, generating more electricity than it consumes. This remarkable energy performance is further enhanced by the integration of energy recovery ventilation systems that optimize indoor air quality while minimizing energy usage. The design incorporates advanced materials and technologies, including super insulation, R-9 quad-pane windows, and structural insulated panel walls (SIPS), all contributing to the building's high energy efficiency.
