About This Project

The Newly-Wed Nest project, located in Manhattan, KS, showcases a beautiful transformation of a contemporary family room designed for a young couple eager to create a stylish yet budget-friendly living space. The couple, residing in a charming home in a vibrant college town, desired a living room that reflected their personal taste while remaining functional and inviting. The project commenced in 2016, aiming to revitalize the room with thoughtful design choices and carefully selected dec. One of the primary challenges was to replace a too-small round mirror that had previously dominated the mantle. In its place, we introduced an art canvas borrowed from the master bedroom, which not only provided a striking focal point but also harmonized with the overall aesthetic of the home. The canvas was chosen for its size and visual appeal, enhancing the room's contemporary feel. To elevate the mantle further, we incorporated a pair of gilded hurricane lamps that had previously been placed on the flo. This strategic placement not only introduced verticality but also added a touch of elegance to the dec. In addition to the lamps, we added a collection of gold candlesticks of varying heights, contributing a dramatic flair to the mantle dec. This combination of items not only complemented the visual balance of the room but also created an inviting atmosphere perfect for entertaining. Completing the look, a sparkling vase filled with white flowers was placed on the black granite hearth, providing a fresh and sophisticated contrast against the dark surface. The outcome of the Newly-Wed Nest project is a stunning family room that seamlessly blends style and comfort. The thoughtful design choices and meticulous craftsmanship have resulted in a space that the couple is proud to call their own, and it serves as a perfect backdrop for their new life together. This project exemplifies how creativity and resourcefulness can transform a living space into a true reflection of its inhabitants.
