In this remarkable kitchen remodel and addition in Arlington, VA, our homeowners envisioned a more open and inviting first-floor living space. The design process focused on enhancing the flow between the kitchen and the family room, effectively transforming the area into an open-concept layout. To achieve this, we widened the walkway, allowing for seamless movement and interaction between spaces, which significantly enhanced the overall ambiance of the home. The choice of materials played a critical role in achieving the desired aesthetic. We installed 3-inch wide oak flooring throughout the study, dining, and family rooms, which added warmth and continuity to the open floor plan. Custom millwork, including elegant crown molding and precisely crafted wood-cased openings, was integrated into the design, providing a touch of sophistication and craftsmanship that complements the transitional style of the home. The kitchen itself is a stunning focal point, featuring painted white Schrock Denton Maple custom cabinets that offer a clean and classic appearance. The dark soapstone countertops on the perimeter create a striking contrast, while the island showcases a reverse design with dark cabinetry paired with a light marble top, effectively balancing the color palette.
