We began by meeting with the homeowners to discuss their goals of creating a way to enhance their backyard space into a calm oasis, with beautiful landscaping. We carefully selected native plants for the landscape such as lush hydrangeas and colorful perennials that not only can thrive in our region, but also enhance the biodiversity of the backyard by attracting pollinators. The use of high-quality, locally-sourced materials was essential for this . For the patio, we recommended natural stone pavers that are durable, functional, and lend a rustic charm that blends seamlessly with the surroundings. One of the many challenges on this was the uneven sloped terrain, which posed issues from both a usability and aesthetic standpoint. Our team is experienced in grading uneven land, and we graded and leveled the land, creating tiered flower beds that provides interest and depth. Additionally, we constructed a custom-cast retaining wall out of reclaimed stone, which serves as structural support, but also does the same because of its unique vertical, organic nature. To enhance the outdoor experience, we created a fire pit surrounded with seating that provides for an enjoyable atmosphere, great for entertaining guests, or relaxing on a quiet evening. The finished landscape incorporates a coordinated balance of hardscaping and softscaping, with strategically planned lighting that highlights the beauty of both the plants, and paved paths, while providing warmth at night. The final product is a beautiful backyard that exceeds the homeowner's hopes of creating a peaceful getaway for their family and friends.
