About This Project

Life Works in South Bend is a transformative project that revitalized a previously underutilized warehouse into a vibrant community hub aimed at engaging college-age students. The scope of the project focused on enhancing the entryway, worship center, and gathering rooms to create an inviting atmosphere with an urban/industrial aesthetic. This design choice not only reflects the contemporary tastes of the target demographic but also fosters a sense of belonging and creativity. One of the standout features of this project is the entryway, where we replaced the traditional drop ceiling with corrugated metal, lending a rugged yet stylish appeal. The incorporation of industrial-style lighting fixtures adds a warm glow, drawing visitors in while creating an ambiance that is both welcoming and modern. To enhance functionality and visual interest, we installed rolling barn doors that provide a dramatic entry into the worship area. These doors not only serve as a practical solution for space management but also contribute to the overall thematic design of the facility. In addition to structural updates, we sought innovative and cost-effective ways to showcase the Life Works brand. One such solution was the creation of string art that displays the logo, adding a unique and 'hip' element to the déc. This artistic touch resonates with the youthful energy of the space and emphasizes the ministry's mission to connect with the community. Craftsmanship was key throughout the project, with careful attention to detail in every aspect of the design and execution. The outcome is a dynamic environment that inspires creativity, fosters community connection, and enhances the overall experience for its visitors. The successful completion of Life Works in South Bend not only meets the functional needs of the ministry but also establishes a landmark space for engagement and outreach, making it a vital part of the local community.
