TOPIC: Historic Bradford House wall repair We love working on historic properties both for their beauty and history, but also for their structural integrity, so when we recently had the opportunity to work at the Historic Bradford House, we jumped at the chance, and at 1-877-LAWN-CREW, we pride ourselves on doing quality work. This was to restore an old stone wall that was very much a character feature for the property and was also tasking and a key structural element, located in the beautiful surrounds of Duxbury. First, the team evaluated the wall for cracks and erosion, noting areas with exposed or crumbling stonework. With this context in mind, we located granite and limestone from local suppliers which closely mirrored the historical stone that had been placed at the Bradford House and at the same time would match in age with the existing architecture for the repairs. The had so many challenges, like finding how to remove the stones that were damaged without compromising the entire build and surrounding. Utilizing traditional masonry techniques, our craftsmen reinforced the wall for increased stability while capturing its original charm. We also installed proper drainage systems to ensure the property would not suffer any water damage in the future which is an important consideration in that part of the world. The finished wall was a beautifully restored, textured, and historic wall that added both visual and material longevity to the Historic Bradford House.
