The REMY 2016 Entry - Kitchen project embodies a harmonious blend of traditional and contemporary design elements, resulting in a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This comprehensive renovation, executed in early 2016, addressed several key issues present in the original 1989 kitchen layout. The previous design featured multiple countertop heights that disrupted the flow of the workspace, along with a blind corner cabinet and a desk area that served little purpose. The addition of an orphaned bar sink further complicated efficiency in the cooking area. To achieve a modernized and cohesive look, the project incorporated sleek Pearl White cabinetry that offers a contemporary twist while maintaining a classic feel. The kitchen is now anchored by an oversized “Sea Pearl” island slab, which serves as a central gathering point and enhances the overall functionality of the space. The perimeter countertops are crafted from “Leathered Textured” Uba Tuba, elegantly contrasted with beveled tile edges, adding richness and depth to the design. Thoughtful lighting plays a crucial role in the ambiance of the kitchen, highlighted by two large pendant lights suspended above the island. These fixtures not only illuminate the workspace but also serve as striking design elements that draw the eye. Storage was a significant focus throughout the renovation; the installation of stacking illuminated upper display cabinets that reach the nine-foot ceiling maximizes vertical space, while the generous application of oversized drawers improves accessibility and organization. The finished kitchen is a testament to exceptional craftsmanship and intelligent design, offering a seamless blend of style and practicality. The transformation successfully resolves the previous design flaws and creates an inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal space for both culinary endeavors and social gatherings.
