About This Project

The Transitional / Midcentury remodel in Villa Park, CA, was a transformative project aimed at revitalizing a home while honoring its original mid-century aesthetic. The homeowners expressed a strong desire to preserve the unique character of the interior, which guided our design choices throughout the renovation process. The outdated features of the space necessitated a comprehensive update, particularly in the family room, where a cluttered and poorly positioned desk/bar area detracted from the overall ambiance. One of the most significant improvements involved replacing old aluminum windows with new fiberglass dual-pane models. This upgrade not only enhanced the visual appeal of the home but also dramatically improved the interior climate, ensuring better temperature regulation and energy efficiency. The strategic selection of high-quality materials played a vital role in achieving a cohesive look that harmonizes with the mid-century style. In addition to window replacements, we undertook the task of scraping the ceilings to create a cleaner, more modern look. The installation of 26 LED lights, including carefully positioned wall washers, was a key design element. These lights were specifically chosen to illuminate wall art, providing vibrant pops of color that enliven the space while maintaining the integrity of the mid-century design. The result is a family room that serves as a functional yet stylish centerpiece of the home. The craftsmanship throughout the project reflects a commitment to quality and attention to detail. Every aspect of the remodel was executed with precision, ensuring that the final outcome not only meets but exceeds the homeowners' expectations. The successful fusion of modern updates with classic mid-century elements has created a welcoming and aesthetically pleasing environment, perfect for family gatherings and entertaining guests.
