New Work by Yard Helpers At Yard Helpers, we specialize in making outdoor dreams a reality. Our latest Columbus is no exception. We took great pride in providing quality and creativity for our client in deciding how to manage their outdoor space. This landscape transformation became an outdoor backyard oasis. The first step was to remove the overgrown landscaping and debris to reveal the space's potential to be an attractive outdoor living space. Our educated staff opted for a plan that includes well-designed native plant materials featuring colorful perennials and ornamental grasses that are low maintenance and support all native forms of life. We did our best to include an aesthetically pleasing custom stone path made from local flagstone that travels through the garden and connects seating areas. The stone path was more than just a functional area to walk, it also added an attractive natural element to the space that the remainder of the landscape complements. One of the big challenges addressed with this was drainage in the backyard that was less than adequate to support plant growth. We were able to define a rain garden that included going back to the drawing board and incorporating a couple of successful design relief areas (berms) for the plant materials that appreciated water after a rain/storm. Not only did this provide adequate drainage, it created an interesting event for local wildlife and a point of interest in the landscape. Overall, the final result was a beautiful natural setting, plants, seating areas, and an location beautiful enough to host the family for fires and gatherings, and a new adult outdoor living space! You could see that the overall quality of workmanship and detail achieved on this exceeded our client's expectations. The clients were excited what was created, as it was a pleasant outcome that provided more success to their lifestyle, and how it attracted families and friends to make use of the new outdoor living area.
