About This Project

The Cox Kitchen project in Cincinnati, OH, exemplifies a seamless blend of modern farmhouse aesthetics and functional design, catering to a client who deeply values entertaining at home. The transformation began with the ambitious goal of creating a spacious environment that comfortably accommodates twelve guests in the kitchen. To achieve this, we removed the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room, significantly enhancing the flow between these two vital spaces. A centerpiece of the design is the expansive island, which serves dual purposes for food preparation and additional seating. This strategic element not only fosters interaction among guests but also elevates the kitchen's functionality. The opening into the pub room was also expanded, further facilitating traffic flow and ensuring that gatherings can easily extend from the kitchen into the adjacent entertainment area. In terms of aesthetics, we selected a contemporary tile backsplash featuring large format subway tiles that adds a striking visual interest while maintaining a clean and modern look. The transformation extends to the existing mini bar, which was revitalized to become a more attractive and functional space, inviting guests to enjoy a drink in style. To stay within budget while preserving the home's character, we chose to retain the existing hardwood flooring, a decision that harmonizes beautifully with the new design elements, despite the structural changes. The kitchen and dining area now boast lightly colored cabinetry that complements the overall modern farmhouse style, creating an inviting atmosphere that merges tradition with contemporary flair. The completed Cox Kitchen is not merely a cooking space; it is a vibrant focal point for family gatherings and social events, where the warmth of the design fosters both comfort and connection. This project not only meets the client's needs but also enhances the overall value and enjoyment of their home.
