The First Tiny House Build project focused on the intricate framing details of the trailer and floor foundation, marking a significant milestone in the tiny house movement. Located in El Paso, TX, this project began in 2013 with a clear vision of creating a robust and sustainable living space. The initial phase involved a thorough assessment of the trailer frame, which was identified as needing reinforcement due to its inherent weakness. To ensure the structural integrity of the tiny house, a meticulous approach was taken in preparing the trailer for the floor foundation and actual floor framing. The design choices made in this project were pivotal. A decision was made to upgrade the trailer's suspension system from 3,500 lbs axles to 7,000 lbs axles, accompanied by new leaf springs. This enhancement was crucial, as the tiny house was expected to weigh approximately 14,000 lbs when fully constructed. The craftsmanship involved in this upgrade reflects our commitment to safety and durability, ensuring that the base of the tiny house could support not only the weight but also the dynamic forces encountered during transportation. Materials selected for the floor framing were chosen for their strength and longevity.
