The Grass-less Solution project represents an innovative approach to landscaping in shaded areas where traditional grass growth proves challenging. Initiated in 2016, this project transformed a pedestrian walkway into a visually appealing and functional space, effectively addressing the unique environmental conditions of the site. Recognizing that the area receives limited sunlight and remains damp, the design team opted for a combination of large irregular Blue Stone and #8 limestone as the primary materials. The choice of Blue Stone offers both aesthetic charm and durability. Its natural, textured surface creates an organic look that harmonizes beautifully with the surrounding landscape. The irregular shapes of the stones provide a rustic appeal while allowing for effective drainage, essential in a location prone to moisture accumulation. The use of #8 limestone as a filler not only enhances the permeability of the area but also facilitates quick absorption of excess water, helping to prevent any potential pooling or erosion.
