About This Project

The Craftsman Restoration project, completed in 2006, involved a comprehensive revitalization of a 1915 Craftsman home that had suffered from decades of misguided alterations. This ambitious endeavor focused on restoring the property to its original grandeur while incorporating modern conveniences and energy-efficient upgrades. The project commenced with a complete interior gutting and redesign of the floor plan, addressing the flow of the living spaces to create a more functional and harmonious environment. Central to the restoration was the relocation of the kitchen, strategically integrated with a prior addition to enhance access to the yard. This thoughtful redesign not only improved usability but also allowed for an inviting atmosphere that encourages both daily living and entertaining. Throughout the home, the original fir floors were meticulously restored, complemented by newly crafted fir trim, doors, and built-ins that echo the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. The exterior of the home saw a significant transformation as well, with the restoration of the original siding and period details, ensuring that the house retained its historical character. Energy-efficient windows were installed, offering modern performance without compromising aesthetic integrity. Additionally, a radiant heat retrofit was implemented beneath the wood floors and new stained concrete, providing an environmentally friendly heating solution that enhances comfort. The landscaping was carefully curated to complement the restored home, featuring stone walkways and a new deck that invites outdoor gatherings.
