About This Project

The Saddlebrooke Vacation Home project involved a comprehensive remodel of a small tract house situated in the picturesque resort community of Saddlebrooke, Tucson, AZ. As long-time clients and winter visitors, the homeowners sought to transform their newly acquired residence into an inviting retreat that catered to their lifestyle. A primary concern was the large, aging pool that dominated the modest backyard, suffering from structural damage and extreme calcification. This unsightly feature not only posed safety risks but also limited the potential for outdoor enjoyment. To address these challenges, our design team proposed the removal of the existing pool and the introduction of a thoughtfully designed "spool," a combination of a spa and pool. This scaled-down version provided a more intimate and functional water feature, perfectly suited to the available space while still fulfilling the clients’ desire for a refreshing oasis. The new spool was crafted with high-quality materials to ensure durability and aesthetic appeal, featuring a sleek modern design that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. In addition to the pool, we focused on enhancing the overall outdoor experience through an innovative landscape design. Our approach emphasized creating an entertaining environment that could be enjoyed year-round. We integrated a cooling deck that encourages relaxation and social gatherings, seamlessly connecting the spool to the beautifully landscaped areas. The selection of plants and hardscape elements was carefully curated to offer a contemporary aesthetic while ensuring low maintenance and sustainability. The final outcome of the Saddlebrooke Vacation Home project is a stunning transformation that balances style and functionality. The newly designed outdoor space not only resolves the previous issues but also invites the homeowners and their guests to indulge in the serene ambiance of their vacation home.
