Suzan and John's kitchen remodel transformed a previously disconnected and awkward space into a harmonious and functional area that enhances the overall flow of their home. The original layout featured a kitchen that was isolated from the dining room and guest accommodations, creating a sense of disconnection. The remodel aimed to bridge this gap while ensuring the entire space was ADA accessible, catering to the clients' needs for both style and usability. Drawing inspiration from the unique blend of Mid-Century Modern and New Mexico Bungalow aesthetics, the design focused on simple lines, complementary colors, and carefully chosen materials to create a cohesive look. One of the standout features of the remodel is the bar counter that elegantly links the kitchen and dining areas. This bar not only serves as a functional element but also plays a crucial role in the entry sequence of the home, seamlessly integrating the different design styles. The selection of soapstone for the counter material was a deliberate choice, echoing the steel window design found in the dining room, while the wood casing at the kitchen entrance softens the transition between spaces.
