About This Project

The "Modern with a Twist" Kitchen Remodel in Indianapolis, IN, transformed a once cramped and dark cooking space into a bright, open-concept area designed for family enjoyment. The clients sought a modern aesthetic that harmonized with the home’s unique character, leading to innovative design choices that infused natural light and charm throughout the space. To achieve this, the wall separating the kitchen from the dining room was removed, creating a seamless flow between the two areas. To enhance the influx of light, Solatube tubular skylights were installed, strategically positioned to magnify daylight more effectively than traditional skylights. This design decision not only brightened the kitchen but also contributed to an inviting atmosphere for daily family gatherings. Preserving the home's distinctive features was equally important. The stunning art-deco glass tile backsplash, a unique element of the original kitchen, was salvaged and integrated into the new design, serving as a striking focal point that ties the space together. The project also showcased impressive craftsmanship, with one of the clients, a skilled carpenter, reclaiming the old-growth studs from the demolished wall. These materials were artfully treated and applied to the back side of the kitchen island, adding a rustic yet refined touch to the overall aesthetic. The choice of soapstone for the sink wall further enhanced the kitchen's charm and provided a durable, beautiful surface that complements the modern design. The crowning jewel of the remodel, a stunning marble waterfall island, serves as both a functional workspace and a gathering spot, accentuated by stylish pendant lighting that adds elegance to the room. The outcome is a contemporary kitchen that seamlessly blends modern elements with classic touches, creating a dream space that is both beautiful and practical for family life.
