About This Project

The Veterans Tiny Homes project stands as a testament to the commitment of the Veterans Community Project (VCP) in addressing homelessness among veterans in the Kansas City area. Located at 89th and Troost, this initiative began construction in the summer of 2017, following the acquisition of the property in 2016. A significant hurdle encountered during the early stages was the lack of sewer service to the site, which necessitated collaboration between our engineering team and the City of Kansas City, Missouri, to ensure proper infrastructure was in place. The project encompasses a total of fifty meticulously designed 240-square-foot tiny homes, each crafted to provide a safe and dignified living environment for veterans in need. In addition to the tiny homes, a 4,600-square-foot community building was constructed, which was completed in December 2019. This community space serves multiple functions, offering areas for medical services, mental and physical therapy, and training programs, thus fostering a supportive environment for residents. The design of the tiny homes emphasizes efficiency and comfort, featuring well-appointed bathrooms that include essential amenities such as a toilet, sink, and shower. The choice of materials reflects both durability and sustainability, ensuring that the homes withstand the elements while providing a welcoming atmosphere. Craftsmanship is evident throughout the project, with attention paid to detail in both the interiors and exteriors, creating spaces that veterans can truly call home. The successful completion of the Veterans Tiny Homes project not only provides essential housing but also cultivates a sense of community among its residents.
