The Park Slope Book Editors Work Room exemplifies the perfect fusion of functionality and sophistication, designed to reflect the unique writing style of a Brooklyn-based book edit. This transformation of a lower-level duplex space has resulted in an inviting environment that embodies a glamorous yet masculine "cigar lounge" aesthetic. The design choices emphasize warmth and comfort while providing a stylish backdrop for both work and entertainment. To create an intimate atmosphere, rich burgundy walls envelop the space, complemented by a newly installed copper ceiling that adds a touch of opulence. The updated fireplace, lightly restored, serves as a focal point, exuding a cozy ambiance perfect for unwinding with a good book. Original doors from the 1800s, salvaged and re-purposed, provide a clever solution for concealing the bar area when not in use, allowing the room to seamlessly transition between a workspace and an entertaining area. A standout feature of this project is the bespoke cat niche ingeniously integrated into the design. Positioned beneath the stairs, this playful retreat for the family cats showcases stunning green marble, harmoniously blending with the surrounding déc. This custom-built silhouette niche not only offers a luxurious resting place for the pets but also incorporates hidden storage, showcasing the thoughtful craftsmanship that defines the space.
