Bordering a National Park

Chatham Landscape Services Inc. is happy to announce our latest , "Bordering a National Park," a beautiful transformation which was completed in Roswell, GA. The purpose of this was to improve the natural surroundings of a private residence located next to a national park and design spaces to seamlessly connect the private home to the stunning wilderness next door. This had many unique challenges, including the sloping grounds and multiple soil conditions that called for innovative ways to enhance the existing landscape. We deliberately executed the work keeping in mind unique native plantings in the native region. We developed a planting design including native flowering plants, native ornamental grasses, and existing trees that worked with the ecology of the existing plantings in the park. We also constructed natural stone paths from locally sourced stone, which provide easy access to the park and incorporated seamlessly into the natural surroundings. These paths provide a way to navigate through the private property while serving a functional purpose, decreasing the possibility of soil erosion from foot traffic in a natural area. To provide a welcoming and comfortable ambiance, we installed soft lighting along the paths allowing for evening strolls and to illuminate the native planting beds. We also incorporated a water feature that provides the sound of water flowing, a natural symphony that can be enjoyed while reading, reflecting, or relaxing. The end result was an amazing landscape that seamlessly moves the private residence into the surrounding national park. Reactions to the space from the client was evidence alone that quality and excellence in landscaping was delivered. This not only improves property values by improving the overall property landscape, it also defines an ecological aspect to a significant private landscape development which is truly a landmark in the communities of Acworth, Atlanta, Dunwoody and more.
