A Few of Fritz&Gignoux Landscape Architects Connecticut Classics Located in the very heart of New England, the "Connecticut Classic" represents the high-style timelessness and classic natural beauty already associated with the work of Fritz&Gignoux Landscape Architects. The sweeping residential palette was conceived to respond to its beautiful site with a diversity of indigenous shrubs, local stone, and artisanal quality. It started with a detailed site analysis, which enabled us to note the individual characteristics of the property's land, such as the shape of the land, soil, and nature-footprints, bushes. Such systematic methodology that guided the choice of landscape components ensures sustainability of the ecosystems. The design revolves around expansive, lawn surfaces framed with carefully curated perennial gardens bursting with seasonal color. Paths and retaining walls were built using granite locally sourced from Webster, MA, allowing the landscape to remain in its natural state from a visual standpoint as well as durability with changing New England weather trends. We not only used materials that were in harmony with the home but also with the environment. During this one of challenges faced was the installation of full drainage system to control heavy rainfall which is very common in the area. We designed a solution that blended into the landscape to mitigate erosion and protect the longevity of the gardens. In the 'Connecticut Classic', a water feature is also a consideration in this case a custom-designed pond that acts as a focal point and attracts local wildlife while offering homeowners a peaceful refuge. We planted aquatic and marginal plants around the pond, contributing layers of texture, color, and biodiversity. The end is a beautiful outdoor area that both meets the functional needs of the family and elevates their lifestyle. Though the was completed over ten years ago, our clients are still ecstatic what we accomplished, and often speak how the landscape provides the ideal balance between setting the scene for gatherings, and quiet and tranquil respite, amidst all that surrounds them for which nature is simply taking up a backdrop.
