About This Project

The Chestnut Trace Kitchen project redefined a previously dark and cramped space into a vibrant hub for gatherings, particularly for the homeowners' beloved Bunco nights. This transformation began with addressing the kitchen's land-locked configuration, surrounded by other rooms that restricted natural light and created a somber atmosphere. The original peninsula layout not only rendered the kitchen less functional but also created an awkward seating area in the middle of the home’s traffic flow. The design team expertly removed both the peninsula and the adjoining wall, resulting in a more open and inviting kitchen. Additionally, a large closet was eliminated to enhance the flow of natural light from adjacent spaces, significantly brightening the atmosphere. The new island floor plan replaced the peninsula, allowing for casual seating that no longer obstructed movement through the kitchen. The cabinetry was custom painted in Sherwin Williams Relaxed Khaki, with double-stacked units reaching from floor to ceiling to maximize storage while maintaining a sleek look. Glass-door top cabinets, illuminated with LED lighting, offer an elegant display for decorative items, enhancing the kitchen's aesthetic appeal. The traditional closet pantry was efficiently replaced by cabinetry that provided ample storage without compromising space or functionality. The countertops, crafted from Colonial Crème granite, serve as a stunning contrast to the ivory 3x6 travertine backsplash arranged in a sophisticated 45-degree herringbone pattern. The design also integrated LED under-cabinet lighting and a striking oversized lantern-style chandelier above the island, which not only brightens the workspace but also adds a touch of ambiance. The result is a beautifully transformed kitchen that embodies both style and practicality, making it the ideal setting for hosting friends and family. The Chestnut Trace Kitchen is now a dynamic space that invites connection and celebration, perfectly suited for any gathering.
