Rooftop Edge and Ridge Ventilation

The Edge & Ridge Roof Ventilation project involved a comprehensive overhaul of an iconic home originally built in 1890, addressing critical ventilation issues that had arisen over the years. Upon inspection, it was determined that the existing roof lacked adequate ventilation, primarily due to the non-ventilated soffit overhang. This situation resulted in moisture accumulation at pinch points, leading to potential structural damage and deteriorating indoor air quality. To remedy these concerns, the project encompassed the complete re-roofing of the home using CertainTeed’s Carriage House Ultra Premium real lifetime shingles in a rich Georgian Brick col. This choice not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the house but also provides long-lasting durability against the elements. In tandem with the roofing, a strategic ventilation system was meticulously designed and implemented. Edge vents were installed at the eaves to facilitate proper intake airflow, compensating for the previous lack of soffit ventilation. Additionally, ridge vents were integrated along the peaks of the roof, ensuring efficient exhaust ventilation, which is essential for maintaining a balanced airflow and minimizing moisture buildup in the attic space. Complementing these improvements, new ABC Rainware gutters were installed around the perimeter of the home. Unlike typical gutter installations that are mounted directly to the fascia, this project utilized hanging gutters that provide enhanced functionality and aesthetic appeal.
