The design pays homage to the historic cottages that grace the Maine coast, capturing their essence while ensuring the new structure feels as though it has always been part of the environment. The homeowners, a couple approaching retirement with two adult children, envisioned a spacious refuge for their family, complete with modern amenities while retaining the warmth of traditional design. The expansive layout includes a large kitchen that seamlessly flows into dining and living areas, perfect for family gatherings. The incorporation of multiple fireplaces adds a cozy touch, making the space inviting year-round. Dedicated play areas have been thoughtfully integrated, anticipating the joys of future grandchildren, ensuring that the cottage remains a cherished family gathering spot for generations to come.
