The Zen Den project, completed in 2018 in Charlotte, NC, stands as a testament to thoughtful design and careful craftsmanship, resulting in a serene retreat that beautifully complements the existing structure. By strategically adding a second story over the garage, we created a tranquil space where the client can escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The design emphasizes natural light, featuring large windows that invite the sun’s warmth and offer picturesque views of the surrounding landscape, enhancing the overall ambiance for reading and relaxation. A key design element is the custom sliding "barn" door, which not only adds a rustic charm but also seamlessly transitions between the main relaxation area and a dedicated meditation space. This thoughtful inclusion underscores the project’s focus on mindfulness and tranquility, providing the client with a perfect spot to practice meditation and mindfulness techniques. The interior design leans towards a minimalist aesthetic, with a calming color palette and carefully selected furnishings that promote relaxation and peace. Incorporating a full bathroom into the design was essential to complete this mini-retreat. The bathroom features elegant finishes and contemporary fixtures that marry functionality with style, allowing for a spa-like experience.
