The Contemporary Memorial Kitchen & Bar project beautifully transforms a classic late 60s Ranch Style home into a modern culinary haven tailored for a vibrant young family. Designed by Micqui McGowen, CMKBD, RID, this remodel redefines the kitchen as the heart of the home, where family gatherings and entertaining friends take center stage. The previous layout, characterized by enclosed spaces and angled walls, was reimagined to create an open, airy environment that promotes interaction and flow. By removing and reconfiguring walls, the design team achieved a seamless integration between the kitchen, breakfast area, and drink bar, resulting in a space that feels expansive yet inviting. The focal point of the kitchen is an impressive 60" dual-fuel range, complemented by a sleek stainless steel hood, which not only serves as a functional appliance but also as a striking visual element. Adjacent to the range, a 36” refrigerator and freezer are cleverly separated by a pantry featuring a chalkboard for jotting down daily schedules or meal plans, marrying practicality with style. The drink bar, thoughtfully positioned across from the breakfast area, is equipped with an under-counter beverage refrigerator, ice maker, and wine refrigerator, providing the perfect setup for entertaining. High-quality materials were selected throughout the project, reflecting a contemporary aesthetic while ensuring durability to withstand the rigors of daily family life. The craftsmanship is evident in the meticulous attention to detail, from the clean lines of cabinetry to the harmonious color palette that ties the space together.
