This revitalized dining space in Baton Rouge, LA, transforms an outdated room into a vibrant and inviting area that reflects the owner's personality while maintaining the integrity of the existing furnishings. The project began with a careful assessment of the dining room, where the walls, though neutral and in good condition, needed an infusion of color and warmth to enhance the ambiance. The owner chose not to replace the furniture, allowing us to focus our efforts on enhancing the existing pieces. We commenced the transformation by painting and recovering the dining chairs and seats, introducing rich textures and hues that complemented the overall design vision. A stunning purple rug by Surya was selected to replace the pale traditional Persian rug, injecting a bold pop of color that anchors the room and ties together the various elements of the design. To create a more inviting atmosphere, we strategically added lamps, providing soft ambient lighting that balances the existing overhead chandelier illumination. The chandelier, a once shiny brass fixture from the 1980s, underwent a modern update with a coat of dark bronze paint, creating an elegant contrast against the light walls. This thoughtful choice not only modernized the fixture but also added depth and character to the space. Above the buffet, we installed a mirror that serves to reflect the room's new elements, enhancing the sense of openness and light. To complete the design, we adorned the previously bare walls with original paintings rescued from the New York Plaza Hotel during its renovation. These pieces, rich in purples, magentas, fuchsias, chartreuse, and pinks, harmoniously filled the space and echoed the color palette of the room, creating a cohesive and dynamic environment. The outcome is a beautifully revitalized dining area that invites gatherings and celebrates its owner’s style, demonstrating that a thoughtful redesign can breathe new life into a space without the need for complete overhaul.
