The Contemporary Downtown Patio project transformed a previously unusable and overgrown backyard in Ann Arbor into a stunning outdoor living space. Initially dominated by hostas, myrtle, and an abundance of weeds, the area lacked functionality and aesthetic appeal. Our objective was to create a contemporary oasis that would not only serve as an extension of the home but also provide a serene environment for relaxation and entertainment. To establish a clear boundary and enhance privacy between this small lot and the neighboring property, we strategically installed a simple yet elegant Arborvitae hedge. This choice not only defines the space but also adds a lush, green backdrop that complements the patio area. The selection of Fendt Hollandstone pavers in the Mossy Oak color was a pivotal design choice that further elevated the contemporary feel of the patio. These pavers were carefully laid to create a seamless and inviting surface, perfect for gatherings or quiet evenings under the stars. The craftsmanship involved in this project was meticulous, ensuring that each element harmonized with the overall design. The combination of the rich tones of the pavers with the natural greenery of the hedge created a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The layout was designed to maximize the available space, allowing for comfortable seating arrangements that encourage social interaction while also providing intimate areas for solitude.
