The Urban Cowgirl project in Chicago, IL, embodies a seamless blend of rustic charm and modern sophistication, reflecting the unique personality of the client. The design process began with an essential questionnaire, enabling a deep understanding of the client’s lifestyle and aesthetic preferences. Describing herself as an Urban Cowgirl, she expressed a fondness for casual elegance, favoring jeans and silk chiffon blouses paired with vintage leather cowboy boots. This distinctive style informed every aspect of the design, creating a home that resonates with her essence. The primary function of the space is to host political fundraisers, necessitating an inviting yet sophisticated atmosphere. To achieve this, we focused on incorporating elements of the industrial farm aesthetic that she adored, while introducing transitional spaces that facilitate both intimate gatherings and larger events. The design features exposed brick walls, reclaimed wood accents, and a thoughtfully curated selection of industrial lighting fixtures that enhance the warm, welcoming vibe. Each detail was meticulously chosen to balance the rustic charm with modern sensibilities, ensuring that the space feels both lived-in and stylish. Materials played a crucial role in achieving the desired ambiance. We utilized organic textures, such as hand-woven textiles and natural fibers, to create a cozy environment that invites guests to linger. Custom cabinetry was crafted from reclaimed wood, providing functional storage while adding character to the space. The color palette is a harmonious mix of earthy tones and soft neutrals, punctuated by vibrant splashes of color inspired by the client’s travel experiences. The outcome of the Urban Cowgirl project is a beautifully designed home that not only serves its purpose as a venue for political events but also reflects the client's personality and lifestyle.
