The "Midwest Brick Goes Contemporary" project redefined the traditional use of brick in a strikingly modern way, showcasing a transformation that revitalized the home's curb appeal. Initiated in 2018, this project was driven by a desire to merge the classic elements of brick with contemporary aesthetics, making the home not only more visually appealing but also more aligned with current design trends. The existing brick facade, limited to the front of the house and suffering from a color that detracted from its overall attractiveness, was replaced with a vertical batten system that introduced a fresh, modern silhouette. We carefully retained and enhanced the original water table, extending it slightly to provide a solid base for the new design. The vertical batten was meticulously installed, drawing the eye upward and creating an inviting verticality that complements the home’s architectural lines. The focal point of the renovation is undoubtedly the porch and the beautifully crafted pergola. This feature was designed to be both functional and aesthetic, serving as a gathering space that seamlessly integrates with the overall design. Craftsmanship played a crucial role in this project. The stained wood used for the pergola was thoughtfully selected to coordinate with the contemporary garage, reinforcing the cohesive look throughout the property. The rich tones of the wood not only provide a warm contrast to the sleek lines of the batten but also enhance the overall modern feel of the facade.
