About This Project

The Westerlund project in Sonoma, CA, began as a straightforward window replacement but evolved into a comprehensive renovation after the discovery of significant dry-rot damage. During the initial inspection, it became evident that a leaking step-down shower had caused extensive deterioration in the corner of the house. To address this issue, we meticulously raised the affected corner by 2-1/2 inches to restore it to level and reframed it with precision, extending 8 feet in one direction and 12 feet in the other. This structural enhancement not only reinforced the integrity of the home but also set the stage for a modernized and functional space. In addition to the structural work, we reconfigured the plumbing system, eliminating unnecessary existing lines to streamline functionality and improve overall efficiency. The plumbing modifications were executed in accordance with current building standards, ensuring that the home meets today’s code requirements. Furthermore, we took the opportunity to insulate and rewire the entire room, enhancing energy efficiency and providing a safe electrical system that supports modern living. The design and finishing touches were skillfully executed by Gibson Construction, who collaborated closely with the homeowner to select color palettes and materials that would highlight the unique character of the home.
