The M.S.S. Residence project involved a significant addition to a historic home located in the picturesque South Highland area of Shreveport, LA. Originally built over a century ago, the home possessed a timeless charm that we aimed to preserve while enhancing its functionality and space. The primary objective was to create an addition that seamlessly integrated with the existing structure, making it indistinguishable from the original dwelling. To achieve this, we meticulously studied the architectural style of the historic home, which features classic Craftsman elements. Our design choices reflected this aesthetic, incorporating rich wood finishes, exposed beams, and detailed millwork that echoed the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. The addition complemented the existing home's layout and design language, ensuring that it felt like a natural extension rather than a separate entity. We selected high-quality materials that were in keeping with the original structure, including reclaimed wood and period-appropriate fixtures. Special attention was paid to the exterior, where we matched the original siding and roofing to maintain the home's historical integrity.
