About This Project

The FUNCTION AND FLAIR project transformed a kitchen space into a captivating blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. This remodel not only expanded the kitchen’s footprint but also thoughtfully integrated a stunning saltwater fish tank, a central feature that adds both serenity and visual interest to the room. The design process was an enjoyable challenge, as we aimed to seamlessly incorporate this aquatic element into the overall layout, ensuring it became a focal point rather than an afterthought. To enhance the delineation between the kitchen and the adjacent great room, we fabricated elegant display boxes. These structures not only define the space but also serve a dual purpose by incorporating down lighting. The soft illumination from these lights casts a warm glow, highlighting decorative items and enhancing the overall ambiance of the kitchen area. The attention to detail in the design is evident, as these boxes work in harmony with the surrounding architecture. A standout feature of the kitchen is undoubtedly the hammered stainless steel hood, which draws the eye and adds a touch of modern flair. This unique element complements the aesthetic choices made throughout the space, particularly the striking forest green marble backsplash. The rich tones of the marble beautifully contrast with the natural maple cabinetry from Dura Supreme Cabinetry, creating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. The craftsmanship involved in selecting and installing these materials speaks to the quality and care taken in every aspect of the remodel. The outcome of the FUNCTION AND FLAIR project is a stunning transitional kitchen that not only meets the practical needs of the homeowners but also provides a visually engaging environment.
