About This Project

High Desert Oasis Introducing the High Desert Oasis for Clemens & Associates Inc. The resulting transformation was intended to be both compatible with the region's dry climate whilst providing the client a beautiful escape that is also sustainable. It consisted of a balanced selection of native species like blue grama grass, desert marigold, and yucca that could withstand the difficult high desert climate. We needed it to stay visually vibrant year-round so introduced boulders at points and also decorative gravel pathways that echo the natural contours of the topography. Permeable pavers used for adequate drainage to avoid the issue of rainfall become a challenge as sustainable data is also yet to become an eco-friendly term in this space. The most significant challenge was the rugged landscape with minimal access for heavy equipment. We tackled these challenges head-on, using hand tools and creative engineering methodologies to install deep root zones that will provide years of thriving plants. It also included a complex system of drip irrigation providing each plant only what it needed when it needed it, greatly reducing waste but allowing the oasis look and feel to continue. The stunning end product is a peaceful sanctuary that highlights the stunning high desert landscape while offering a tranquil environment for both quiet reprieve and socialization.
