Space-Saving Laundry

The Compact Laundry project is a beautifully executed transformation of a main floor space in a 1971 home located in Golden Valley, MN. The homeowners sought to enhance their living environment by adding a dedicated laundry room while adhering to the existing structural boundaries of the home. To achieve this, designer Mary Maney undertook a comprehensive redesign of the kitchen layout, effectively creating two distinct rooms that seamlessly integrate functionality with aesthetic appeal. The design process began with an assessment of the existing space to determine how best to optimize it for the new laundry area without compromising the kitchen's layout. With careful planning, Mary established the footprint and functional requirements necessary for both spaces. The result is a well-organized laundry room that offers ample storage and utility, featuring elegantly stained cherry cabinets that provide a warm contrast to the home's overall design.
