The Watersedge Kitchen Renovation project in Woodbury, MN, beautifully exemplifies how strategic updates can transform a space while honoring its original charm. The clients sought a refreshed kitchen that would not only enhance their enjoyment of the home for the next 4-5 years but also appeal to future homeowners. Rather than a complete overhaul, the focus was on preserving the majority of the existing cabinetry, creating a harmonious blend of old and new elements. Working collaboratively with the remodeling contractor, I assisted in the planning and execution of a design concept that would elevate the kitchen's aesthetic without exceeding budget constraints. The choice of Summer Beach granite for the countertops introduced a light, natural beauty, offering a striking contrast to the darker cabinetry. This granite selection not only adds elegance but also durability, ensuring it withstands the test of time. To further enhance the kitchen's appeal, an irregular 3x12 crackle subway tile was chosen for the backsplash, adding a touch of texture and visual interest. This tile complements the granite while tying in the overall color palette, seamlessly blending with the existing elements. For the newly crafted cabinetry pieces, a dark finish was selected that resonates with the natural wood flooring, creating a cohesive look throughout the space. The craftsmanship involved in this renovation was meticulous, with attention to detail evident in every aspect of the design. Elevation drawings and color renderings, created by Sarah Bernardy-Broman of Sarah Bernardy Design, LLC, served as the foundation for the project, showcasing the new kitchen sink cabinet and window valance that elegantly frame the cooking area. The result is a kitchen that not only meets the immediate needs of the clients but also stands as a timeless space that future owners will appreciate for its thoughtful design and quality materials.
